Since the mid 1980’s, Gelok International has been a premier manufacturer of thin, low-dusting, super absorbent laminates and composites. These laminates are used as is or introduced as a component into a variety of finished products that are designed to control the migration of fluids such as water, blood, urine, other aqueous based solutions, while reducing the proliferation of odors associated with these liquids. Applications for Gelok laminates include personal hygiene, packaging, spill control, filtration, medical cleanup, wound dressing, manufacturing and other operations where aqueous absorbency is needed.
Gelok Delivers “Super”- Absorbing Performance
Using a variety of polymers, Gelok core materials absorb many times their own weight in water or aqueous solution, trapping it in a gel for easy disposal. Gelok laminates feature an extraordinarily thin profile and a light weight composition that results in a lighter and more streamlined end product. They provide excellent wicking and are designed to offer absorbency rates tailored to the application.
Gelok Custom Composites
Gelok laminates provide tremendous system flexibility due to our custom manufacturing process. Our laminates consist of a composite polyacrylate laminate structure – a superabsorbent polymer base between two cellulose sheets. The degree of absorbency is determined by the amount of polymer used in the core, while the substrate performance characteristics can be varied by the use of different cellulosic and nonwoven material.
More Manageable Finished Product After Use
Not only do Gelok laminates provide excellent absorbency and fluid transport, they offer greater stabilization (fluid retention under pressure), which means once your finished product has accomplished its absorbency mission it remains thinner, drier, more flexible and easier to
There are many reasons to choose Gelok products to satisfy the demanding absorbency applications that arise every day. Here are a few our customers have come to appreciate:
• Extraordinary thin profile
• Light weight means a less bulky, lighter end product
• Provide excellent wicking
• Quick-absorbing (actual speed of absorbency varies by application and product design)
• Consistency of finished product
• Easy-to-use commercial form
• Quick start-up with low material waste
• Low start-up costs
• Greater machine efficiencies
• Lower process filtration costs
