Substrate Materials
Substrates can be provided which offer widely varying performance characteristics from flushability to high durability. Current Gelok laminate materials include:

  • Cellulose tissue
  • Airlaid tissue
  • Polyethylene backing
  • Papers
  • Web/netting
  • Nonwovens
  • Specialty items

Alternate Delivery Media

Gelok is also working with a number of alternate delivery methods, including:

  • Melt-blown materials
  • Micro beads
  • Quilted sheets

Core Materials
Gelok's basic product characteristic is absorbency, the amount and speed of which varies according to the core mix of polymers. Current Gelok laminates can absorb water, aqueous solutions, hydrocarbons, odors and gases, waste materials and contaminants. Some of the many core additives we use which can deliver specific product performance characteristics are:

  • Superabsorbent polymers
  • Activated carbon
  • Baking soda
  • Environmental absorbents
  • Hydrocarbon absorbents
  • Metal absorbents
  • Flocculants
  • Zeolites
  • Dessicants
  • Iron filings (magnetic attraction)
  • Enzymes
  • Catalytic & activating materials
  • Organo clays
Into the Future
Gelok is experimenting with a number of new technologies, including oil absorbing materials, which will open up new applications to superabsorbent products:
  • Dip-in-water vests for emergency cooling
  • Substance recovery (e.g. precious metals)
  • Drug testing kits
  • Bioremediation (e.g. delivery of oil-eating microbes)

Whatever your absorbency needs, Gelok engineers can work with you to develop superabsorbent products and technologies to meet your product's end use requirements. Contact us today!
