Performance in Your Product
Gelok Superabsorbency Means Your Finished Product Performs Better
Using a variety of polymers, Gelok core materials absorb many times their own weight in water or aqueous solution, trapping it in a gel for easy disposal. Gelok laminates' extraordinary thin profile and light weight mean a less bulky, lighter end product. They provide good wicking and are typically quick-absorbing (actual speed of absorbency varies by application and product design).
System Flexibility in a Laminate
Gelok products consist typically of a composite polyacrylate laminate structure a superabsorbent polymer base between two cellulose sheets. The degree of absorbency is determined by the amount of polymer used. The addition of other materials to the core can produce a variety of new performance characteristics (see the Custom Engineering page). The substrate characteristics can be varied by the use of other materials as well, such as airlaid tissue for natural biodegradation (flushability) or polyester nonwovens for durability. Gelok laminates are non-toxic.
More Manageable Finished Product After Use
Not only do Gelok laminates provide excellent absorbency and fluid transport, they offer greater stabilization (fluid retention under pressure), which means once your finished product has accomplished its absorbency mission it remains thinner, drier, more flexible and easier to dispose of.
